Often, when I make a prediction or share an insight with a client that represents an extremely definitive change in their journey, they don’t understand how this prediction could possibly come into being. They see where their life currently is, and somehow view their journey much in the way any of us look at a photograph – an image that forever remains the same, unaltered by time. Perhaps a slight change in the journey can be perceived as plausible, but it has to make sense to the current reference of perception of the client.
But life is anything but a photograph. Life is like a movie, in full living color and three dimensions. Like a plot line in a film, there are twists and turns in all of our lives. Sometimes what happens in our lives is roughly speaking what we might expect. However, many times the seemingly unexpected is exactly what occurs for any of us. In short, our lives can change in an instant.
Even physics indicates that the universe is provably in a constant state of flux and change. Why would any one of us think then, that our own lives are not governed by the same set of natural and universal laws that govern all we see? Just look at nature. People are born while others transition into spirit – grass grows and seasons change. We can look at the world around us, and see how every moment indeed is a moment of change, whether slightly, moderately or dramatically.
I remember a great psychic once told me that the most seemingly strange and unbelievable predictions were the ones that always come true. They are purely psychic –seemingly not in line with current events, logic, common sense or predictable assumptions. I have found that to be true in my experience as a reader as well.
Why do so many people have a hard time accepting predictions that indicate strong or surprising changes when receiving a reading? There are several reasons. People many times like to feel in control. A client may want to feel and believe that they are in the driver’s seat of their journey. If a prediction represents extreme change, a client could feel out of control, therefore, resist the possibility of the prediction or insight provided. In a sense, the insights may feel as if they’re “too much to handle.”
Clients frequently want easy answers. Isn’t it easy when answers are simply yes or no, black or white? Any of us should know that life is filled with grey tones, so why would anyone think a reading does not have grey tones as well? Looking at things in a simplistic way provides a quick fix, and seemingly plausible solutions that hardly ever work.
People often want things to make sense from the vantage point of the way their life currently is. If a reading presents insights in a predictable way, it is less threatening and less unpredictable as to what the future may or may not hold. Uncertainty can be scary, but uncertainty is certainly a part of living in the physical world.
Most of all, people want what they want! I find that many people are often just so set on having their way, based on their emotions, desire, and ego. It’s as if everything depends on getting the desired outcome of a particular situation. There is so much more depth, complexity and dimension to living than proclaiming, “I want what I want!” Is what you want what God wants for you – is it for your highest good?
Through all of these various issues, people often then look at a reading from an emotionally prejudiced of view. If it doesn’t fit into the existing box of current conditions and perceptions, it is resisted, potentially dismissed, and deemed untrue.
If a client has been disappointed in love several times, they may say to me, “Love has never ever worked out for me. I don’t believe it will.” Well, things change. I’ve made many positive and accurate relationship predictions for clients who have had a history of extremely negative and destructive relationships in their past.
If someone has always been poor, they may empathically affirm, “I’ve always been broke, I can’t even pay my bills!” I have countless clients who I have predicted financial success for, accurately. Many went from rags to riches, from lack and limitation to great abundance. Here, we see again how things can and do change.
If someone has been in a seemingly stable marriage for many years, they might wonder: How could my marriage end when there are no apparent signs of cheating and divorce? Often, things are changing behind the scenes in a way that is hidden to someone just looking with their physical eyes. But is any reader’s job to see what is hidden, what is under the surface, and predict it correctly.
As people, we get into emotional patterns and routines, and perceive those patterns and routines as absolute reality. But remember, whatever the familiar situation is, it always changes through time!
I would recommend for everyone receiving a reading to look at his or her journey with flexibility and a truly open mind. What does it mean to have a truly open mind when having a reading? Listen without prejudice, try to not have an emotional reaction to the information coming through, and just be open to whatever is coming through! Consider what is being told to you. Don’t make snap judgments! Truly considering the information coming through allows that information to be potentially helpful. Listen, but don’t judge! Consider, but don’t assume!
Regarding change, how far does one want to take that concept? The world could end tomorrow. It’s possible. It may not seem probable, but certainly, it could happen. We could win the lottery tomorrow. That is also possible. The more open our minds are, the more we can perceive where our lives really ARE going, and hopefully, what our lives CAN be!
In the end, it’s the client who wins by being open minded. After all, information is coming through to guide, to assist, to enlighten. Being aware of change is always good. Why? One could potentially make choices to affect that change in a positive way. Also, being prepared for something can help to pave the way to deal with change in a better way, both internally and externally. It’s like driving down the road. Would you want to only view part of the traffic, block out the rest, pretend it isn’t there and only see a few vehicles on the road? What a disaster that would be!
Always be open to all that comes through, as any and all information is knowledge, and knowledge of all types is power!
