Chronic remorse, as all the moralists are agreed, is a most undesirable sentiment. If you behaved badly, repent, make what amends you can and address yourself to the task of behaving better next time. On no account brood over your wrongdoing. Rolling in the muck is not the best way of getting clean.
Aldous Huxley
I couldn’t agree with this sentiment more. Often, doing something positive now neutralizes whatever “mistakes” were done in the past. The divine universe loves to see any of us grow and move forward!

Don’t drown yourself in details. Look at the whole.
Ferdinand Foch
This is a great concept to remember. It’s not that details aren’t important–they are! But sometimes, we get so bogged down in the details, we forget what we were trying to accomplish in the first place.

All spiritual growth takes place by leaps and bounds, both in the individual, and, as here, in the community. The crisis is to be regarded as a nexus of growth.
Jacob Burkhardt
So much of our spiritual growth consists of learning new perspectives. Every crisis, no matter how difficult or painful, brings the opportunity for change and growth.
