Does logic have a place in a reading?

October 23rd, 2009 by jim1537

Many clients go into a reading thinking of their lives as being a certain way – the way it has been in the past, and how it is now. They perceive that they understand their situation, who they are, and feel confident that they know those quite well who are in their lives. They assume that their future will be the same, or at least quite similar to their already existing circumstances and the path that they’re on. Therefore, the reading must make sense in reference to all that has been experienced, and what is believed to be true.

These are logical assumptions, which should make sense, right? If you’ve lived at 543 Elm Street for twenty years and have no plans to move, then you won’t be moving within the next few months. A woman assumes that being married to the same man for forty years who seems to love her means that he won’t leave her in 6 weeks for another woman. So clients think that they have a pretty clear idea of the parameters that would be accurate within a reading, and only accept information that falls within those guidelines and limits

But what if the reading contradicts those pre-existing assumptions and seems illogical? What if the session offers completely different insights and predictions that what the client would have ever thought could be true? If the consultation differs from what a client believes, what does that mean? Is the reading off base, inaccurate, and downright wrong?

The question could be posed: “How many people thought that 9/11could have ever happened?” The unlikelihood of such an occurrence, even though it is quite extreme, could be compared in principle to our own circumstances. Each of our lives are filled with unexpected twists and turns, and surprises – some happy, while others that are tragic.

However, psychic ability is the exact opposite of logic, and in fact, has nothing to do with logic at all.

We use logic all the time, which ties into linear thought and process: one thing happens, which infers or suggests that something else will happen based on what happened before, and so on. This mental process only deals with our five senses – but does not incorporate our sixth sense, which is our psychic, intuitive and transcendent mind, the mind that is far beyond logic.

Logic can be used when you’re getting ready to drive your car: I need my keys, because the keys will open the door, and then, start the ignition. Gas needs to be in the car, so it makes sense to check if the tank has enough gas to get me from home to point A and then back home. If there isn’t enough gas, I need to go to the gas station and fill the tank up. All of these thoughts are logical and based on deductive reasoning.

However, psychic ability is as opposite of logic as oil is to water. They have nothing to do with each other. Psychic ability has to do with receiving information from the spiritual realms, and does not explain itself, as it just is what it is. Information flows through the reader and the reading, and is offered. It is not presented in a sequential, logical fashion, as it can’t be. It has nothing to do with what makes sense to our five senses. It is beyond such a mind set. Spirit and the divine universe speak to and through a psychic, and the client gets much more value out of the reading in the long run if they try to listen – not to argue, or to deny any possibility.

Remember, anything can happen. It should be assumed that spirit knows more than us, and will choose what to say and how to say it, in a way that is for the highest good of the client. Often, one demands to know every little detail to their question, but certain questions cannot and should not be answered.

A perfect example of this would be regarding death. Hypothetically, if the client was going to die on July 1, 2020, what possible good would come from knowing that information now? Simply stated, there are certain things none of us are supposed to know, or to only see in part.

A reader may say to someone in late 2007, that they will get an answer to their relationship question in early September of 2008. But the answer is not supposed to be clear at the time of the reading. What isn’t known to the reader and client, is that in early September 2008, they are going to run into someone they knew from before as a friend. This friend was married, but will be divorced by September 2008, and at that time will be interested in a relationship with the client. It is imperative for the client to not know this, as they would impulsively contact this person early, before their divorce is final, which would ruin the outcome of a potentially great relationship – permanently. Therefore, spirit will only provide part of the details, as to not allow the divine plan to be ruined.

If this client was thinking logically, he or she would press the reader: “Why can’t you tell me what is going to happen? This reading isn’t clear.” The client could even dismiss the validity of the reading, because the question was only partially answered, as it doesn’t make sense logically.

Clients often use logic as a form of skepticism. Being skeptical means that the session better make sense – right off the bat. If it doesn’t, then the reader and reading is dismissed as hogwash. This is a way of the client saying that they already know, or that what comes through must conform to their logical pre-existing view. What a huge mistake one makes with that mindset, as life altering information could be denied in a reading. One could miss all of the guidance that could help them to literally heal their lives.

I remember a great reader once said to me years ago that the strangest, most off the wall and crazy predictions were always the most accurate. Why? Because they were purely psychic, as they had nothing to do with logic at all.

I recall reading for a woman just two times. The first time, she wanted to know how her wedding was going to go, which was to take place in just a few days. I immediately felt that there wasn’t going to be any wedding at all. It was quite a clear psychic message: no wedding in a few days. She argued, and slammed the phone down, as if I were a lunatic, who didn’t know what he was talking about. A week later she called to tell me that her fiance backed out of the wedding, at the very last minute. There ended up being no wedding.

Here, this prediction seemed utterly illogical, even nonsensical. There was a planned wedding; it was to occur in just a few days, so one would think that it had to happen, barring a tragedy. But it didn’t. This is the real value of psychic ability – to see the things that cannot be seen or perceived with our mundane five senses.

Her problem with what I was saying is that it didn’t make sense to her – logically. This is where having a completely open mind when receiving a reading is crucial. Do we really ever know what’s in store for us based on logic? Of course not. So when we ask for a reading, be prepared for anything to come through, beyond what we believe is plausible to us.

Often, a client tries to make the reader look like an out of touch with reality nut case. I’ve had this happen to me.

I read for a woman who had been married for thirty years. He husband came home faithfully every night from work, and didn’t go out on the town, or frequent bars. So it blew her right out of the water when I felt that he had been cheating on her – but on top of that, not with a female, but rather, with a man. Of course, what I said to her was beyond preposterous, if one was thinking logically. He came home every night, didn’t go out, and showed no overt gay tendencies, etc. But it kept coming to me.

At first, she perceived me as a joke, as if I was mentally ill — until she found out that I was indeed right. He had been cheating with a man for many years. “Where,” you might wonder? When he was traveling overseas on business trips, he was having sex with a male colleague there. Both men were married and appeared heterosexual, so no one suspected anything. Yet this affair was as clear to me psychically, as my own name.

Here, we see a problem that is quite common when logic interferes with a consultation. Clients want to believe that they know the character of those who are in their life – especially someone who is their lover, or spouse. And who am I, or any reader for that matter to tell them different — someone has never spent one single minute with the person in question?

But how much do any of us really know anybody? Unless we spent every minute of every day with them, we can’t say with 100% certainty who they are, what they are and all they do. We can look at an extreme example of someone like the BTK serial killer. His wife was married to him for years, and had absolutely no idea whatsoever that the man she had been married to and had children with for so long was a notorious serial killer. Obviously this is a very rare example, but I use it to illustrate a point.

Apply the same principle in more common terms. A man’s wife claims she’s going to see a female friend, but what if she was really meeting a secret boyfriend? Just because this man didn’t know or suspect anything wrong, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening? That’s where a reading can be of service, to unveil the hidden and what appears illogical.

The solution is not to become suspicious or mistrustful of the people in our lives. The key is to having and maintaining an open mind – plain and simple.

A client must not let their ego get in the way. Everyone should go into a reading by clearing their mind of preconceptions, and rigid perceptions. When a client thinks they know, right then and there, the reading is compromised. Again, logic should not be a part of a client’s mindset!

Let me take it a step further. A reader is not doing their job if they incorporate logic into a session. Sure, it will sound convincing and real to the client, but logic is not a valid part of the psychic process, and will sell the client short with mediocre and potentially inaccurate information.

One of my regular clients kept worrying about not having enough money to keep her home. She wasn’t making enough money at her job to pay her bills, and was behind in payments. She wasn’t able to find another job, and no one she knew had money to loan her. Now what would logic say? It would say that she was going to lose her house. However, one of her passed on relatives kept coming through with the adamant message that there was going to be a financial miracle – over and over again. And that miracle happened, and she didn’t lose her home, thankfully.

Perception is reality. We base our reality on our perception of things, whether our viewpoints are accurate or not. We must let go of logical preconceptions when having a reading, or we limit and hinder ourselves, and all that spirit has to offer to us!

Of course, every client will claim to have an open mind, as who would admit that they’re close minded when having a reading? Clients must not just talk the talk, but walk the walk. An open mind is essential for every reading to work, which means that logic must be left at the door!

After all, we should utilize a reading when logic has fallen short – when it hasn’t provided us with the answers we need and yearn for. As we reach out though, it cannot be a case of having it both ways. Just like we can’t serve two masters, we can’t blend logic and psychic ability in a reading, and expect it to work.

Remember, a reading can help us more than logic ever could, especially with issues that are complex, troubling, confusing and illogical. Never forget, life is often quite illogical – people frequently don’t behave logically. If everyone and everything was logical, would anything really be puzzling at all?

Yet on the other hand, a reading, its insight and predictions do not necessarily have to be the opposite of logic. Sometimes, a legitimate psychic insight will end up reaching the same exact conclusion that would be arrived at logically. But a reader still must come to these conclusions using their psychic ability, and not common sense.

I once had a female client who had wanted a certain movie star to become her lover. She crossed paths with two “psychics,” who told her they could make this happen, but they would have to purchase a special metaphysical machine that cost 500 thousand dollars to bring this movie star (someone she never even met) to her. She was an average income working person, but gave them the total amount by cashing in life insurance policies. So by the time she called me, she wanted to know if this movie star would ever be hers, or if not, had she been ripped off?

Now, I know what most of you are thinking. These “psychics” were complete rip off scam artists, the glamorous leading man movie star was never going to be hers, and of course, she was taken for a ride — big time. And yes, you’re right on all accounts, and you probably deduced that through logic and common sense. She never met the actor, lost 500 thousand dollars, and was scammed beyond belief.

I came to the same conclusion and told this client so – except I arrived at it solely from what I felt psychically. Here, we see that a logical conclusion and a psychic insight were indeed one and the same – but in a reading, these conclusions should be reached with psychic ability alone.

Often, clients use psychics to tell them that the seemingly impossible will indeed happen, and want the reader to make it all appear logical. This is the exact opposite of the client who only believes that what appears logical at the time is all that could ever happen. Here, the most out of reach possibility is supposed to presented as factual by the reader who serves the erroneous purpose of appearing to channel higher information that could never be perceived logically. Why? Because it is supposedly channeled directly from God!

A perfect example of this is when clients solicit readers who will tell them that relationships that will never work out are instead meant to be, destined, christened and sanctioned by God, and ABSOLUTELTY will happen.

I cannot tell you the countless number of clients who have fallen into psychic addiction based on this premise – that the reader is the mouthpiece of God almighty! When clients reach the point of only being willing to accept that the situation they’re addicted to (usually a futile romantic relationship) must work out, psychic addiction soon follows. Here delusional fantasy not only replaces logic, it also prevents the reading from being helpful. “Yes, they really do love you and will commit to you soon” is all that the client is willing to hear.

Whether the client’s sense of logical assumption and ego are in the way, or false fantasy that the client demands to hear, logic, or rebelling against logic should not be a part of a reading. Logic has a purpose separate from psychic ability, such as in balancing your checkbook, but logic should not be involved either way in a consultation.

Spirit wishes to help us, as the real purpose of a reading is to offer insights to help us grow. When having a reading, we step out of our mundane and predictable five senses as well as erroneous fantasy – and step into the realm where all truthful and helpful information is available to us – through transcendent mind, the divine universe, and the universal guidance of higher spirit!

So what do we do when a reading doesn’t make sense to us logically? First, we need to write down clearly what was stated in the reading. The reason I mention “clearly” is because many clients interpret what is being given to them in a reading, and make note of their edited version, as opposed to writing verbatim what the reader offered to them.

Secondly, don’t react. Take a wait and see attitude. In time, things will most certainly become clear. The feel good reading is not always a truthful one, even though it seems so uplifting at the time. On the other hand, a reading that indicates problems and things not necessarily working out in the way the client wants is not guaranteed to be accurate either.

Third, keep in mind that your choices as a client after the reading will often affect the outcome of predictions, as a reading is only a snapshot of your journey at the time of the session. Your choices can and will change everything.

Fourth, do your best to have an open mind, as that is perhaps the strongest key to being able to utilize all that comes through for you from spirit.

When predictions don’t matter

October 4th, 2009 by jim1537

“So what actually is a psychic reading,” one might question?  If you were to ask most people, I would bet that the majority would respond with the following:  “A reading is supposed to predict the future: offering times, dates, and events that are going to happen.”  (That sentiment might be further emphasized by the idea that a reading is only good if those things are predicted accurately!)

This presupposition assumes that life is a pre-written script – as if we were all actors in a cosmic play acted out on earth; presumably written by a higher power, where all we do is say the lines and act out the scenes given to us.  With this mindset, a psychic is merely there to predict and parrot these supposed pre scripted future events.  “When am I going to meet someone?  When will I get married?  When will I be rich?  So what’s going to happen in my career,” clients ask?  These are the type of questions that fit this very limited concept of a reading.

However, our journeys are not only based on pre-written dates, times and events. (Just think if our lives were only that simple!)  The truth of the matter is that our journeys are far more complicated than what can always be answered in a reading merely through time, date and event predictions.  If a psychic consultation is truly going to be valid and helpful to anyone, it must reflect these complexities.  Therefore, there are times when predictions in a reading don’t matter – in fact, they don’t matter at all.  “What does that exactly mean,” you might wonder?  “Isn’t the very idea of a reading supposed to be about predicting the future?”

Our Spiritual Lessons

What are spiritual lessons – what exactly are they?  Spiritual lessons are lessons which we agree to (while we are still on the other side in our spiritual bodies) before incarnating into a physical lifetime, where the lesson or lessons are to be learned.

These lessons cannot be predicted in a reading based on time, dates and events or the future.  They are taken on by us on a soul level for our own spiritual growth and the nature of these lessons can literally entail anything.  It all depends on what we’re supposed to learn on a spiritual level; not necessarily what the personality desires, which would presumably be to always get what we want.  These lessons are not easy for us to learn, as they take time, effort, and often involve struggle, pain, difficulty, persistence, and patience.

Think of it like an assignment without a strict time limit – a task you have agreed to do, and then it is your job to do the work.  We may perhaps agree to a wide and open time frame to learn the lesson or lessons we’ve taken on, but probably one that encompasses at least several years, even decades.  Often, we have an entire lifetime to learn these lessons, meaning that we will deal with it for an entire incarnation.  If we don’t learn what we’ve agreed to in a given lifetime, we then carry it over into future lifetimes, as we can choose to resist learning the lesson, for however long we choose.

It is not unusual for certain lessons to take multiple lifetimes to learn. That can be because we’ve resisted learning, or because we have actually agreed spiritually to take on the lesson for numerous lifetimes.  Sometimes a lesson may actually take multiple lifetimes to learn as it is that deep, transformational and complex.  In fact, we have all of eternity to learn our spiritual lessons.  Therefore, it is impossible for a reader to offer time, date and event based predictions regarding these outcomes and conclusions.  Why?  Because it is all based on the growth and choices of the client.

If you want to quickly be able to possibly identify some of your spiritual lessons, take a look at the areas of your journey that you may have struggled with for an extended period of time – something most of us might call baggage.  It isn’t necessarily baggage, but what the soul needs to learn which still hasn’t been learned yet.  It can be called a work in progress.  (However, just because it is baggage, does not necessarily mean that spiritual lessons are involved.  Some times we just choose our way into our own difficulty; like recreationally cheating on a wonderful spouse, and destroying a marriage.)

Let’s look at two examples of these types of lessons and how predictions in a reading don’t matter.  I’m sure you will be able to relate to, or know someone who has experienced one or both of these lessons, as they are universal.

Self-esteem and prosperity

All of us in one lifetime or another will take on the lesson of learning to manifest positive self-esteem and financial prosperity. Since self worth so strongly ties into our ability to manifest money, often these two dynamics go hand in hand in our spiritual growth and lessons.

If one is to learn this lesson, they may architect and set up a personality (on the other side before incarnating) that has low self worth, and feel undeserving of money.  They would enter into this lifetime with these qualities.  Most likely, they would attract experiences which reinforce this negativity in life.

This creates the foundation (the personality) and crisis (negative experiences regarding self worth and money) for the lesson to be learned.  This person has agreed to take on the challenge of purging that negative pain to eventually work through it to manifest a good self-image and prosperity as their spiritual lesson.

This person’s environment will contain people who reinforce to them that they are no good.  They may also have to struggle to get a good paying job for a very long time and find that they never have money.  So with these struggles, the work begins, in a sense, going from darkness (low self worth and poverty) to light (positive self esteem, prosperity and financial wealth). The choices and the way they handle it along the way will determine whether this person moves closer to their goals, or further away from them.

Keep in mind, this could take years, decades, an entire lifetime or several lifetimes.  Part of that has to do with how the person in question learns and progresses or not, and also, what they have agreed to on a soul level.  Have they agreed for this lesson to take years, decades, an entire lifetime, or multiple lifetimes?  Perhaps there is no time frame at all — but just a lesson to be learned.

So this client might ask a reader, “When am I going to finally have money?”  As you can see, this question cannot be answered through a time, date and event prediction. A reader should explain to the client what the lessons are, what they need to do to feel good about themselves, manifest money, and what course of action they should take to work toward completing this task.

This particular client needs to heal their relationship with their mother and father within themselves, as it has fostered and helped to create a very negative self-image for them.  By feeling good about themselves, that also puts them in a vibration to be able to attract money.  This may sound neat and tidy in a few sentences right here, but much harder to achieve in reality, as there are deep reinforcements of a poor self-image lodged in the subconscious.  This dates back to childhood, so the healing of these issues will take time, persistence and diligence.

Most of us mentally know what we need to do, but still fall short in our efforts.  Mentally knowing is only within our conscious mind, which is merely the tip of the iceberg of who we are.  Knowing mentally does little or nothing to complete these lessons. That is because we don’t yet emotionally know, which means that we must proceed deeper, till we reach the core of our being, and reprogram the subconscious mind.  This allows us to emotionally know – as in us getting it on a deep, unquestionable gut level.

So the idea here is that this client needs to work on these tasks, and not look for predictions regarding their question, as predictions would be null and void and render themselves meaningless, as this clearly is a lesson driven situation.  In time, they will complete their goals – it is just a matter of them making the journey of growth and completion.

Manifesting our perfect divine life partner

Many of us have struggled with meeting that right person – the one who is truly our perfect divine life partner.  Let’s look at an example of how this ties into our spiritual lessons and where predictions don’t matter.

A woman agrees (on the other side before incarnating) that her lesson is to go through two bad marriages which will damage her life, then for her to transform her journey through internal healing, which would then allow the right person to enter her life.  She needs to heal and truly be open to meet that right person, which is what allows that new individual to come into her life.  Her internal healing creates the open door for her perfect life partner to come to her:  not a dating website, not meeting new romantic prospects, or taking risky chances to try and make it happen.

At a certain point in her internal healing, or while simultaneously working on her issues, it may be time for her to be open to meeting new people and begin dating.  But there is a time to simply work on healing, and then (while meeting new prospects), still work on healing and learning to discern who’s not right, and cut them loose.  The success or failure of her future love life is not based on time, date and event predictions.  It is based on her needing to learn what she is supposed to spiritually learn and making the correct choices that are for her highest good.  Think of it like being in grade 12 and needing to pass your classes and final exams to graduate and get your diploma.

If she is having a reading after her second divorce, is angry, bitter and frustrated, she may ask a psychic, “So when am I going to meet my soul mate?  I have had two horrible marriages and I want to meet him, so where is he?”  This question may seem utterly straightforward, as if any qualified reader should give her that date.  But it cannot be answered at all with a date.  Why?  Because, again it is her spiritual lesson, a lesson of the soul.

This client is chemically drawn to bad men: men who are cocky, unavailable, arrogant, cheat and won’t commit.  So when she feels the pull or the “connection” to a man, she immediately needs to ask herself, “Is this the same type of guy I was married to twice,” as opposed to just wanting time, date and event predictions about “the one.”

What a reader should do is to tell her what her lessons are, how to work through them, which will then open the door for the right person to come into her life.  This entails spiritual insight, wisdom, and the ability to understand the nature of the lesson.  A psychic should advise her to completely break this pattern of being with these type of men, as connecting with them will keep her repeating the same relationship patterns from her past – the ones she is supposed to be getting beyond, in order to meet the right partner for her.  If there is an instance where she is not sure upon meeting a new man, she could give it a time frame without emotional attachment, to let it unfold.  Always remember, though, it won’t be hard for this client to see it clearly – it’s more of the question of whether she wants to see it without blinders on.

However, when one is caught up in painful emotions while trying to deal with their spiritual lessons, it can be difficult.  “How come you can’t give me the answer as to when this will happen for me, as I am so frustrated,” she questions in a reading?  With this mindset, it is important for the client to step away from her feelings, and hear the counsel that will help her to get there.  That guidance focuses her to heal the issues from her two divorces: not just surviving the experiences, but coming to a sense of forgiveness, peace and learning all she needs to learn to be able to successfully move forward with her romantic life.

Remember, it’s not just a case that if she waits it out, Mr. Right will come into her life.  Sometimes, for some of us, our love lives are just a matter of that.  But for this client, learning her spiritual lessons directly ties into her manifesting a successful love life.  Once again, we see exactly how time, date and event based predictions will absolutely do nothing to help her get where she truly wants to go, but learning what she has agreed to before incarnating into this lifetime will.

To predict or not predict — that is the question

Readers have many clients who express the same frustration as the female client mentioned above, because they want a prediction – and one that is tidy, with no ifs, ands, or butts about it.  Again, if life were that simple!

Breaking an old negative pattern is not easy, as negative emotions are like adrenaline:  loud, pushy, impatient, impulsive and out of control.  It’s important for clients to sit back, allow their higher selves to take control and make the choices that help to complete the spiritual lessons involved – not just repetitively asking readers the same time, date and event based predictions.

Some clients try to limit and restrict the insights of a reading, by continually bringing it back to the same redundant question, “But when is it going to happen?  I hear what you’re telling me, but when is it going to happen?”  You might ask, “Why would a client do this?”

Because it’s a way for the client to avoid growth, take responsibility and put in the effort to learn their lessons.  If a time, date and event prediction can be provided by a psychic, that means that the client’s question is answered and things will simply just work out.  Therefore, it’s only a matter of time.  This way, the client then doesn’t have to do anything to make their dreams happen for them.  This type of “boxing in the reader” process is terribly harmful to the client, as it will never bring legitimate or valid answers in a reading.  In fact, it will prevent the desired outcome of the client from happening, as the question is based on an area of the client’s life that is lesson driven — meaning a spiritual lesson must be learned. There is no other way around it.

Then there are readers who don’t understand these complex spiritual lessons, and simply make predictions that don’t come true.  I have had many clients say to me in complete frustration, “Jim, every psychic keeps telling me I’m going to meet the one within 3-6 months, and it never happens!”

For me, I always know if a question can be answered by a prediction or not.  When it can’t, I clairvoyantly receive what the client needs to do to get there.  However, many clients refuse to do the work.  They want instant gratification, as if a reading is supposed to answer life’s biggest questions in a few quick minutes:  Date when soul mate enters the picture, time when there will be a new job, event where there will be more money and exactly how much – then, the reading is over.

So as we can see, answering questions that tie into one’s spiritual lessons are impossible to do by time, date and event predictions, by any reader.  It is not a question of the ability level a psychic possesses; meaning how good they are or not.  It cannot be done.

Getting tired of it all

It is so easy to feel utterly overwhelmed by the process of learning our spiritual lessons.  By the very nature of these lessons, they are not easy, and are not learned quickly. Asking a psychic for predictions regarding these lessons becomes frustrating when either predictions don’t come true (even my multiple readers), or a reader of higher insight explains what needs to be done to complete the lesson and it is realized by the client – this is going to take time and effort.

However, when getting tired of it all, never forget that through despair, it’s easy to make the lessons take longer and actually become harder.  After a certain point, any of us can lose hope, enthusiasm, the desire to keep moving forward, and openness.  Therefore, the very lesson we’re supposed to work through becomes like an abyss that we feel we’ll never get out of.

The pain cannot become our foundation and our conclusion.  For example: We agreed in our spiritual body to learn the spiritual lessons of breaking the cycle of bad relationships that are destructive.  But instead of doing so, we continue to get involved with negative partners and choose the same, if not worse lovers to connect with.  It can destroy one’s life and retard one’s growth on a spiritual level.

Don’t give up

As mentioned above, it is so easy to become frustrated, disillusioned and ready to throw in the towel when things don’t work out – especially when there has been struggle for years, or even decades.  While going through these difficulties, don’t let the emotions trick you into self-pity, bitterness, resentment, or making the same negative choices over and over.

Remember that you have agreed to take on these lessons.  Lessons are never forced on us by a higher power.  We always made the choice to have this experience, so we are actually in the driver’s seat, even when we have lost sight of that fact.  Just like when you sign a contract here in the physical world, the exact same thing happens on the other side before we incarnate.  We do sign on the dotted line, so to speak, as the soul wants to grow, evolve and learn!  So we are compelled to learn what we have agreed to.  It is not as if God is punishing us!

If it is a spiritual lesson you have agreed to take on, it has to be learned.  You can postpone it, make it harder or take longer, but in one lifetime or another, it will absolutely and unequivocally be completed.

And when having a reading, realize that it is these lessons – call them spiritual lessons or lessons of the soul, that cannot be answered by date, time and event predictions.  What a reader can do, though, is to offer the overview, guidance, counsel, direction and suggestions to guide you down the path of completion, not one of self-denial and destruction.

So in this instance: “how” becomes “when” — meaning that how we direct our lives, how we do things, how we choose, and how we learn, answers the question of when – when we will complete our spiritual lesson or lessons.  By learning what we have agreed to, the when we seek becomes a reality.  If spiritual lessons are involved, the date, time and events we ask for are not answered by predictions in a reading; ever.  But rather, by how we make choices in our lives and how we learn what we have contracted to.  By learning our spiritual lessons, there is absolute completion (like the reality of graduating from school with diploma in hand).  This fulfills the destiny of our soul’s higher journey and growth  — and that completion remains with us not just in this lifetime, but also, for all of eternity.

Our loved ones on the other side

When someone we love transitions into spirit, it can leave us with a gaping hole in our hearts and in our lives.  It’s hard to grasp such an overwhelming and painful loss, unless and until we’ve lived through it.  We expect the phone to ring with them being on the other end — or to come home and there they are, just like it used to be.  But sooner or later, the reality kicks in — they really are gone…and gone for good.

We will no longer see them in the flesh with our own two eyes, say hello to them, have a conversation, go to dinner, or see them on the holidays anymore.  The emptiness can seem as big as the size of eternity itself, with only our own alienating emotions, many of which are devastating, remaining with us.  We miss our loved ones, and cry, as if a tape loop of pain and misery just repeats itself over and over again… What can we do to find a sense of internal peace with our life altering loss?

The first question I would pose is, “Are they really and truly gone?  Is their “death” like the finale of a movie; the screen says “the end,” and then just goes black…?  Is the story over with, like the last page of a book you’ve just finished…?”  People use the word “death” in such a matter of fact way when referring to anyone leaving this earth. Also, death is the ultimate finality.

But from a spiritual perspective, a different word may say it best when our loved ones leave this earth; one that says it much more clearly — that word is “transition,” as when our loved ones have transitioned from their physical existence to the other side, where consciousness continues in a different way.  Simply stated, they have moved on, and continue their existence in a new reality.

Think of your loved ones who have transitioned to the other side continuing their journey like the universe we see around us:  grass grows, seasons change, flowers bloom and trees keep rising and tower above us.  They don’t just return to dust – only the physical body does.  Their consciousness continues on in a spiritual reality.  And just like our relationships with people vary in the physical world, the roles our loved ones on the other side do or don’t play in our lives from the other side are multi faceted, with many variables.

Misconceptions and Falsehoods

I would first like to address with you the many misconceptions, erroneous concepts and falsehoods which people believe regarding their loved ones on the other side and their roles in our earthly journey. These clarifications are designed to offer an accurate perspective regarding the process of our connection to our loved ones in spirit.

1) – Our loved ones are with us and/or supposed to be with us every single day

This simply is not true.  If they were meant to be with us every day, they would still be here.  They have transitioned, because it was their time to move on, and our time to experience this separation as well.  It can be thought of like a child leaving home to go to college.  However, that does not mean that our ties with them are cut.

It would be like you living in New York, and someone you love moving to Chicago.  Would you be able to see them every single day?  Could they be there with you always? We would still talk with them on the phone, send emails, texts, etc. and indeed see them, but less frequently.  Just like that person who moved to Chicago, when someone we love transitions into spirit, they are not gone forever, just not as much in contact with us as they may have been before.

Right after a person passes on, they may spend a lot of time around you immediately after they pass.  Sometimes they need to still feel what they’re familiar with, to ease into their new spiritual journey.  They may also want you to feel them to make the process of their transition easier for you.  As time goes on, they should begin moving away from you and focusing on the continuation of their own spiritual journey.  This would mean that contact with them should be lessened.

2) – Once on the Spiritual plane, our loved ones are enlightened

As some people here on the earth plane are spiritually unevolved, while others are highly evolved, it is the same thing on the other side.  Just because someone passes over, does not mean that they are, or become, enlightened.  That assumption cannot be made, in the same way one couldn’t presume that all human beings are either non enlightened or enlightened.  As people always have the option to grow, so do spirits.  While some spirits choose to grow and others don’t, this needs to be looked completely on a case-by-case basis.  Often, a spirit comes through to us in a very similar way as to who they were here on earth and maintain many of their former personality traits; meaning if Dad was humorous as Dad, he may still be that way on the other side.

 3) – Our loved ones become our master teachers and spiritual guides

Just because we may have a connection with our loved ones on the other side, does not mean that they are in a position to guide and teach us on a cosmic level.  First and foremost, our loved ones would have to have the universal knowledge, wisdom and awareness to be able to be our master teachers – the equivalent of a PHD here on earth.  Just because they love us has nothing to do with their spiritual awareness, and what they can offer to us as teachers on a spiritual level for our growth.

When they don’t or can’t come through to us

Sometimes, our loved ones don’t know how, or can’t, come through to us.  As we would like to believe that our loved ones on the other side do indeed come through, there are certain cases however, where they don’t.  Let me explain some of the reasons as to why.

1) – They may be sleeping or resting on the other side

Especially if they had a long-standing illness on earth, a difficult human life, or a tough transition, they may be in an extended state of rest.  This would be for them to rejuvenate, let go of the attachment to what happened before, in preparation for their new spiritual journey.

2) – They don’t know that they can

Sometimes, a spirit doesn’t actually know that they can come through and connect with us.  It may seem odd, as if one could ask, “In spirit, shouldn’t they know they can reach us here?”  Not necessarily.  If they were closed minded on the physical plane, and didn’t believe spirits could communicate with us then, they may still feel the same.  Even though they are now in spirit, they still may not believe that spirits can communicate with human beings.  Therefore, they don’t know that they are able to reach us.

3) – Have not yet developed the skills

The ability to come through to us from the other side is not a natural given skill.  Unlike being born and naturally being able to breathe without being taught, spirits must learn, or already know how to connect with us.  Our transitioned loved ones must have either: A) – Developed this skill set in another lifetime, or between former lifetimes and still have access to these skills, or B) – Learn these skills now on the other side from one of their master spiritual teachers.  It is very similar to anything studied in school on earth: You have a teacher who instructs you, so you can learn.

 4) – It may not be for the highest good, yet

For reasons we may not understand, it may not be spiritually for the highest good for a loved one to come through from the other side.  It can be an issue of timing:  You may need to deal with certain lessons on your own for your own growth before they are supposed to come through.  There can also be lessons involved that are too complex for us as human beings to understand.  What if both of you are to learn to separate, so that the two of you can learn a lesson of independence from each other?  If the loved one in question was instructed by their master teachers to not come through and if they were listening to and following this guidance, they would heed these instructions, until the time may be right for them to reach out to you.

 5) – They may not be ready to

Sometimes, if the relationship between you and them had been strained, negative or painful on earth, a spirit on the other side may not be ready to come through to us.  Here, they may simply be being stuck and holding onto the negativity they carried over with them from when they were here.  They may have not spiritually grown in such a way to put whatever negative happened between the two of you behind them, at least yet.

Often, a loved one who transitions may retain a great deal of the personality qualities they possessed when they were here as a human being.  Leaving this world in and of itself does not necessarily reflect on one’s growth and evolution. Again, a spirit, just like a person, may either choose to grow or not to.  In the same way we are not forced to grow here, neither are spirits on the other side.  Hopefully, in time, the negativity will be gotten past, so that a positive connection can be established.

Why and when they do come through to us

One of the first questions you may ask is, “If our loved ones there do come through, does that mean that they can see us?  Do they see what we go through in our everyday lives?  Do they watch over us?”

Our loved ones on the other side certainly don’t watch or view our every move.  Besides violating our privacy, it would not be appropriate for them or for us from a spiritual perspective to (in a sense) be eavesdropping on us all of the time.  They, like us, are also supposed to be learning, evolving and growing.  Remember, they are there and we are here.  Even though the earth plane and the other side are interconnected, it is not as if our loved ones there watch our lives like sitting in front of a TV and watching every scene of a movie.

They may watch over us to a point; like a parent who’s child has moved out of the house, but is still in contact with them.  The parent still plays a potentially protective role, but more from a distance, then in the way a parent would watch over a toddler.  They may receive information from their master teachers as to the up and coming events in our lives. They will see certain things, perhaps the portions of our journeys that they are spiritually supposed to see, whereby they may be able to offer assistance to us if and when they come through. They themselves may sense if something is wrong, as the connection we have with them, although invisible to our physical eyes, does exist, and it can be thought of as a long distance telephone line between you and they.

With looking at how, when and why our transitioned loved ones come through, there are so many different instances and variables involved.  Here, let’s look at these many dynamics:

1) – To offer love and comfort

Our loved ones will frequently come through to us to offer love, comfort and support, especially in times of stress and difficulty.  Since we are familiar with their essence and energy, we are already connected to them; therefore, we can receive the energy flow they are sending to us.  As they want to help us, they will send this energy toward us and since thought is reality, these “thoughts” of love they project toward us do indeed reach us, and ultimately, help us.

2) – To offer messages

Messages from our loved ones on the other side can be helpful to us, especially because they can assist us in our earthly journeys.  These messages can be received by us directly:

  • We may be able to hear them in our awake state, as in hearing the actual words or portions of the words they are offering to us.  Even if we do not have the gift of mediumship, our special bond with a loved one on the other side may allow us to hear them, because of the depth of our connection and the openness we feel toward them.
  •  Coming to us in a dream with messages, where we may be more likely to hear them, as our normal daily defenses our relaxed and let down.  In most cases when we dream of someone who has passed on, it actually is contact from the one we’re dreaming of.
  • We may receive these messages subconsciously and not hear them consciously, at least at first.  These messages will eventually filter up through the subconscious where we may hear them cognitively.  Or we will absorb and process these messages energetically and internally, similar to the way our bodies absorb the food we eat, and utilize it correctly.  Meaning, we may not consciously know what they have said to us, but on a deeper level from within, these messages help us in the way we direct our choices, acts, thoughts, words and deeds.
  • Messages may also come through to another family member or loved one who is here on earth.  A spirit medium can also be utilized, as sometimes we or those close to us are not able to receive these messages as that takes a special gift and skill, and/or we are too close to the situation to be objective and simply hear what is being communicated from the other side.  Also, a medium may be able to pick up more specific information, especially if there is important and pertinent guidance that is time based to what is going on at this time in one’s life.

These messages can vary as much as their communication would have when they were still here in the physical world including:

  • Issue warnings of danger and help you to avoid pitfalls, bad decisions and potential problems.
  • Advise you to extricate yourself from negative situations, such as a destructive romantic relationship.
  • Let you know of conditions to come, whether they are negative or positive, so that you can make the most of what life holds in store for you.
  • Offer encouragement for you to make good choices, manifest your dreams, prosperity, and support you in building a positive journey.
  • Helping to provide vibrational protection for us to help shield us from danger and harm.
  • Positive prayers from the other side that assist us in our journeys.

In addition, there can be other messages that are personal to you and them to confirm their presence, which establishes a connection and strengthens the bond that has been there.

Sometimes our loved ones come through with their own unique stamp of individuality, which will represent qualities that would identify them to you as you knew them to be.  It they were judgmental here, they may be there as well.  If they were pushy when human, they may still be just as pushy over there, and if they were gentle when they were in the physical plane, they may come through with a gentle approach in their communication with you.

3) – To make amends

Sometimes there had been prior difficultly in the physical world between our loved ones (now on the other side), and us.  When those loved ones have grown to realize that it is time to heal whatever issues and rifts had existed between them and us, they will come through with a healing message.  They are not being stubborn about it anymore, or defensive, as they are ready to bury the hatchet, so to speak.  This can involve an apology from them to us, or a sense of leaving the past behind.  This type of healing is very positive, as it helps all concerned advance and move forward from a spiritual perspective.

4) – To be a “spokesperson”

If our higher teachers wish to reach us, they will sometimes have the messages relayed through one of our loved ones in spirit.  Since we are familiar and comfortable with the energy of these loved ones, we are more likely to be able to sense, feel, and hear them.  Also, we would trust them, so when their energy came through to us, we would be less likely to close off, shut down, or dismiss what was being sent to us from spirit.  In a sense, our transitioned loved ones serve as being a “spokesperson” for the universal teachers who have the wisdom to guide us, because they lack the personal connection we have felt with those we have loved.

 Spiritual Timing

The master teachers know when it is spiritually the right time for our loved ones to come through.  Of course, these teachers know what is for the highest good of all concerned; therefore, they would guide our loved ones there to reach us here when they are supposed to.  Since there may be lessons involved that we, as people don’t understand, the timing may be different than what we as human beings want.

There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration regarding the timing of a message:  When are we ready to receive it – how does it tie into the lessons needing to being learned — and when will it be most helpful – and when is it spiritually the correct time?  In the same way you wouldn’t drive a car at age 6 and you would need to wait till you were older and more mature, the same thing applies with when we should receive certain information from the spirit world.

When the time is right, spirit will reach us.  It is our job to wait patiently, and then receive what does come through, knowing that God’s perfect timing will apply to when and how our transitioned loved ones connect with us.

 What not to do

In the same way I just mentioned how we may need to be patient regarding the time frame of when a message comes through to us, there are also certain things we should not do regarding our loved ones who are now on the other side.  It is important to understand the spiritual parameters that guide our relationships to our transitioned loved ones.

1) – Do not expect them to tell you want you want to hear

Often, we are looking for confirmation, or to have our own feelings reinforced by our loved ones on the other side.  However, we can never expect this of them.  Certainly, they are not connecting with us merely to parrot our own existing viewpoint – rather, they are coming through to guide us, help us and potentially enlighten our reality.

2) – Do not expect them to solve your problems

Often, we give a false power to those we love who are now in spirit, as if they are God almighty.  Just like we are in a state of evolution, so are they.  And in the same way we are in the driver’s seat of our journey, our transitioned loved ones are only passengers.  We must always take responsibility for our problems and our actions and choices to hopefully resolve these issues.  Our loved ones from spirit can assist, offer guidance, insight, love, and support, but they cannot solve our problems for us.

3) – Do not expect them to be more spiritually evolved than they are

We often assume that since someone is on the other side, that automatically means that they are high in consciousness – and potentially spiritually enlightened.  This simply cannot be assumed.  In the same way there are people of every possible level of consciousness on earth, it is the same on the other side.  There are those who have not yet advanced, while others have taken the opportunity to grow spiritually.  Do not assume that they have grown, as it would need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

 4) – Do not assume what spirit will say to you

Do not pre-script in your mind what messages may come through for you from the other side.  Such assumptions can limit what you are open to receive, and willing to hear.  As spirit may often surprise us with insights that are not currently what we may relate to or understand, we must always approach any message from the other side with a completely open mind.

5) – Do not pull on them

This is perhaps the most important “do not” being addressed here.  If we pull on our transitioned loved ones, we hold them back.  By wanting them to be with us, near us and communicating with us all of the time or frequently, we get in the way of the divine plan.  If our loved ones are in spirit, they are not supposed to be with us in our daily lives.  By holding onto them and pulling on them, we actually prevent them from growing.  Because they love us, they may feel obligated to try and accommodate our wishes, therefore, not move forward with their own spiritual growth.  We should absolutely never pull on them, as they will be there for us if and when it is appropriate from a higher point of view – not just from the perspective of what we emotionally want.

Pets who have crossed over

For many of us, are pets are as close to us as our human loved ones.  When our pets transition to the other side, it can be as devastating as a loss of a person we care for.  Many of my clients have asked me, “Are my pets still connected to me once they’ve passed on?”  The answer is yes, they still remain connected to us.

Animals cross over, and do go into a special place on the other side of light, love and supreme joy.  They are present alongside other animals, and spiritual guides.  (This may involve them being with the same animal friends they knew here; if your family had two dogs who crossed over, they would still be together.)  Often, they run through the fields and do what you would think they would do.

Regarding us who are still here, they do sometimes come around the house, or in the back yard where they use to play.  Often, my wife and I have seen our own transitioned dogs running through the yard, or being in the house, however, they are not always with us – just occasionally.  As the love they feel for us is like a cord that connects us to them spiritually and forever, they still come back and forth to us in the physical plane, as they feel the same love for us.

The love that is forever

In the same way that our pets love us forever, so do our loved ones (once in the human form), who are now on the other side in spirit. Even though they’re gone from physical sight and our day-to-day lives, they are not absent from our hearts.

In reality, the eternal, indestructible and endless cord of love connects us to our loved ones on the other side.  There are no barriers of time and space that can break that tie.  It is absolutely unable to be broken…

And while there are many specifics as to why, how, and when our loved ones from spirit do and don’t come through to us, the energy – the constant flow of unconditional love between us remains with us for all seasons and for all of eternity.  Think of it like an endless and eternal light that shines brightly through all of the passages of our lives – from darkness to confusion, to pain, happiness and elation!  We are comforted by the love that envelops and supports us from the other side, in the same way we felt cradled as infants in the protective arms of those who loved and nurtured us.

And when they are supposed to help us, they will – when a message is supposed to reach us, it will be offered – as protection is necessary to shield us from danger and harm, it will be there – and most of all, we know that the love that has been built between us is not temporary; like our earthly existences that do come to an end, bur rather, as eternal as eternity is itself.

If You Were Really Psychic

September 14th, 2009 by jim1537

For any reader, there comes a point, often many times throughout their career, where someone asks them a “test” question.  “When will my girlfriend and I are get back together,” a man asks?”  However, there has been no break up.  He and his girlfriend are going along in their relationship just fine.  So why was this “test” question asked, then?  Simply stated, it is designed to trip a reader up.  Some people think that if they throw a “test” question (the equivalent of a curve ball), and if the reader is “really psychic,” they should be able to immediately see this “curve ball” coming, and somehow look beyond that “test” question and tune in accurately.

For these types of people who are skeptical, cynical or downright disbelieving of the psychic process, they raise the bar so much higher than any reader could possibly reach.  In their minds, if a psychic reading is to be believed at all, it must be absolutely 100% accurate.  By holding a psychic to a standard that is humanly unable to be achieved, the value of what a reading can offer becomes discredited, and therefore, dismissed.

When it comes to a reading, for those who are closed minded, it’s as if there can be no margin of error if psychic ability is to be considered credible – but apparently, this only applies to psychics.  Science, medicine, mathematics and physics, all things that are considered reliable standards of absolute fact and truth, ALL have a margin of error.  Is every scientific conclusion always right, or every medical diagnosis correct?  Of course not.  What about mathematics and physics?  They are not 100% accurate either.  In the short of it, there is nothing that we do as human beings that is infallible, flawless and perfect.  So why doesn’t that understanding apply to psychics?

Because these people are looking to discredit psychic readings, plan and simple — and that is easily achieved by raising the bar higher than any reader could reach.  It becomes a way of validating the pre-conceived prejudice held by many against psychics in general.  It reminds me of that old street phrase:  “If you’re looking for it, you’ll find it.”  Meaning, if you want to make a reader look foolish, inaccurate, non-credible and even ridiculous, it’s easy to do.

“If you were really psychic, you would know my name?  If you were really psychic, you would know what I’m thinking right now.  If you were not a fraud, you should know what I ate for breakfast,” someone out to disprove psychics may say.  However, for anyone who understands the psychic process at all, these are not viable questions.  A consultation can be many things:  It can bring information through from spirit (which is designed to offer counsel, guidance, insights and predictions that assist in life’s journey).  Some readers are only psychic, and not mediums.  Other readings may offer only one of these things; others a combination.

Readings do not involve guessing, parlor tricks, slight of hand, or mind reading.  (It would be like asking your doctor to guess at what a blood test is going to reveal.)  In these instances, one’s mind is already made up.  They just look to find ways to authenticate their pre existing judgment.

Often, test questions are used to throw a psychic off, which are simply designed to discredit the reader.  I remember a woman asking me, “When will I get married?”  As I started to tune into the energy, she interrupted and cheerfully proclaimed, “I’m already married.  I can see that you are not really psychic at all, because if you were, you would have known I was married. Now I know that this is all fake.”

Another client once asked, “How many children do I have?”  She then stated that she doesn’t believe in readings, but if I were really psychic, I should be able to answer this question right on the spot — and if I could, just maybe she would consider having a reading.

Keep in mind that a psychic can “miss” these questions and still be a good reader:  For example, a psychic might feel a strong relationship as a marriage, even if it is not a legal one.  There are times that a psychic can feel children connected to a person that are not theirs biologically.  The child picked up through a reading may be someone who they are like a parent to, or perhaps, a stepchild.

With these types of questions, it is abundantly clear that it is only a test.  In this instance, I advised this client that test questions will not give her the reading she should want (but didn’t want), – an accurate one.  It only pollutes the spiritual aspect of the psychic process and ruins the possibility of helpful information to be channeled.

In any consultation, there should be the presumption by the reader that a client’s motives and intentions are sincere.  A psychic cannot do their job correctly by wondering if what the client presents are legitimate or trick questions, which are designed to lay a trap.  If a session becomes a game of hide and seek, the reading will not work.

You might ask, “If someone is really psychic, does it matter what the client’s attitude is?  Isn’t information that comes through a reading just that – information?”  Clearly — it’s not that simple. Think of a reading as a partnership between:  The reader, the client, the spirit forces involved (guardian angels, master teachers, possibly loved ones from the other side), as well as information directly channeled from the Godhead.  If the client is closed, cynical, disbelieving, or trying to trip the reader up, part of this partnership fails or is at least, seriously compromised.   It is like having several links that make up a chain, with one of the links being broken, (which represents the client’s negative or closed attitude).  The entire chain becomes weakened.

Remember, the nature of a reading is not designed to survive tests.  The psychic process is quite delicate, and easily thrown out of balance.  As a reading involves transcending time and space and connecting with the spirit world, it is like holding a vase in your hands.  If you knock it against something, it gets chipped and damaged, and worse yet, if it is dropped, it becomes shattered.  It is the same situation with a reading.  Closing off, asking test questions and being cynical, all change the outcome of a reading.  Why?  Because a session is based on the flow of energy coming into and through the reading, and the client is definitely a large part of that energy.  When this energy changes for the negative because of the client, the reading itself becomes inaccurate and non-productive.

Here is a question worth asking:  “Since God doesn’t play games and perform the equivalent of card tricks in a reading, why would anyone think that they could reduce a session to such nonsense and that God’s infinite intelligence would comply?  In short, we see that those who don’t want to approach a reading with an open mind will not benefit from all that could indeed come through to guide them.  They will try to prevent anything helpful from spirit reach them.  Yet there are those who do have readings on a regular basis and claim to believe in the psychic process, but they also don’t allow the psychic process to work either.  They play the same “If you were really psychic” game, but in a slightly different way.

Some clients try to limit a reading to only “yes” or “no” answers, only seen in black and white terms.  “When am I going to be rich?  When am I getting married?  What am I going to do this month?  When am I meeting the one?  Often, these as well as any other questions cannot be answered in didactic “yes” or “no” answers, without any grey tones discussed, which absolutely exist in life’s journey.  If life were only thumbs up or thumbs down responses, it would be pretty simple and basic, wouldn’t it?  Either you get what you want, or you don’t – period.

Of course, our experience is completely filled with grey tones, and if our lives are that way, why would anyone think that a reading could be any different?  If all aspects of our journey have choices, forks in the road, possibilities, crossroads, lessons and complexities, how would a reading then trump the laws of the universe?

It’s as if these clients have incredibly unrealistic expectations of a reading that are not humanly possible.  Here is an example:  I recently had a client who wanted to know when his money situation was going to improve.  As I was trying to explain to him that what I was picking up was that his negative self image and feeling unworthy of prosperity is what created (and was still perpetuating his poverty), he immediately interrupted with, “I just want to know when my money situation is going to get better.  Can’t you answer that question?  If you were really psychic, you should know that?  Is it tomorrow, next month or when?”

Here, what he refused to realize, is that his “money” question couldn’t be answered by a time-based prediction at all.  Meaning, it CANNOT be clarified by a date on the calendar.  Why?  Because it is lesson driven.  This means that the client has a spiritual lesson to learn regarding money – one that he had agreed to before he incarnated into this physical lifetime.  Now, the lesson has come to bear, and he needs to learn what he is supposed to, which in this instance, is to improve his self worth, self esteem and self image, which will allow him to manifest money.  However, if he doesn’t learn these things, the money remains unavailable to him.

It’s like wanting a diploma without passing your classes.  The diploma only comes after you complete your courses with passing grades. This analogy may sound silly, but it really is the same thing:  The lesson needs to be learned for the desired outcome of the client to come into being.

Sometimes these clients argue, interrupt, and keep trying to act as if life is a “pre written” script, always using the statement, “If you were really psychic, you should know the answer.”  If that were the case, all we would be in the physical world are actors saying our lines and acting out the scenes completely written for us by a higher power.  If that was all we were here for, what purpose could a reading possibly serve?  There would be no value in simply knowing everything that was going to happen to us, without any possibility of choice or changing our lives for the better.

At the root of the problem, is something much deeper, though.  The reason that only “yes” or “no” answers are sought and accepted is that those responses require absolutely no growth on the client’s part.  The real issue is not if someone is psychic enough – the fact is that these clients don’t want to look at themselves, and see how they have created or co created their reality and what they need to do to change it and move forward.  It’s the same thing as someone who is overweight not wanting to diet – or someone who is out of shape not wanting to sweat at the gym.  It’s as if someone was drowning, and they were being thrown a life raft to save their lives, but instead, they become defensive and find fault with the person trying to help them.

If a psychic can just say:  “It’s a yes or it’s a no,” there is no work involved for the client.  For the client to want, even insist on this type of reading, if indicates that the client is in denial, and is resisting taking responsibility for doing what they need to do to move their journey in the right direction.  And often, it’s the psychic who gets blamed, as if they are not really being “psychic,” if they offer anything other than bottom line “fill in the calendar” predictions.

This also becomes a way for the client to control the reading and limit what it can offer, all because they don’t want to realistically look at their own situation.  This way, a reading becomes something to play with and be amused by, as just another form of entertainment or a little “pick me up.”  A session is reduced to something like a magic fantasy pill, or a quick fix, as opposed to a consultation that can offer several levels of insight, guidance and helpful information.  If we look at the possibilities of what a reading can indeed offer, we see the limitless potential of what a consultation can provide.  Here are some of the infinite possibilities that can be gained from a reading when a client has an open mind:

  •  Seeing the lessons that need to be learned to move forward in a positive way with their journey.
  • All of the choices involved in any situation that indeed affect the outcome.
  • What is best and not best to do.
  • Seeing the repercussions for choices to redirect what is chosen for the better.
  • Clarifying the spiritual lessons that are being learned, which helps to clear up confusion and offer direction.
  • The potential of what can be manifested and how to achieve that.
  • Time based predictions, when applicable.
  • The past life lessons that were agreed to before incarnating that need to be learned.
  • Understanding other people’s motives, who they are and how that relates to the client.
  • The many possibilities that are in front of the client.
  • How there is more that one road to travel down in any given situation.
  • How the client has often created or co-created their reality.
  • The power of thoughts, words, actions and choices.
  • Redirecting thought processes for success.
  • Spirit messages from our teachers, as well as loved ones from the other side.
  • Any and all insights and messages that come through from spirit in a reading.

You might ask, “Is all of this really psychic?  Some of it sounds like self help and maybe even counseling.”  Yes, it is ALL psychic.  Why?  Because the way that this information is gained comes through the psychic process.  So any level of insights, predictions, guidance, transcendent information, spirit messages, counsel, and awareness of any kind that that comes through in a consultation, all falls under the umbrella of a psychic reading.  Here, we need to redirect our limited perception of a reading to being far beyond just the simple “yes” or “no,” “time and date” predictions that are far too limited to really help anyone on any real level.  Think of it this way:  Besides our ego, defense and denial mechanisms, what possible reason could a client have to not want to receive potentially helpful, even life-altering information?

Since a reading is offered to us to serve a higher purpose in our lives, it is not a game, but rather, a divine gift from the heavens.  Even if we achieve the ability to listen to what comes through, we must also remember that what we may request to come through in a reading may or may not.  God offers what God offers, and yes, God knows best.

Often, the question asked is not the question answered or in the way the client would like it to be answered.  A client could ask, “If you were really psychic, why couldn’t you answer my question in the way I asked it?  Instead, something completely different came through.”  This is because spirit, our teachers, loved ones from the other said and God Almighty know what’s best – not necessarily what the client may want to hear, but what they NEED to hear.

Besides being flexible regarding the way a question may be answered, a large part of whether a reading is successful or not is the ability for the client to participate in the process.  For a session to be successful, the client must be involved in a positive way.  A reading is a partnership – it is teamwork.  What does that mean?  Actually, it varies from reading to reading.  Sometimes, there is dialogue between the client and reader.  Other times, a spirit message comes through that must NOT be interrupted by the client.  Other times, a client needs to talk about what they’re going through to get it out (which opens up the energy as they release what’s going on inside), while other times, spirit takes the lead and offers guidance.  If a reader needs clarification on something they’re feeling, the client needs to offer that in return.

In addition, the client must not go into a reading thinking they already know the answers.  Often, what one believes to be true, frequently with all of their heart, is not accurate or correct.  It may be just what is being emotionally experienced at the time.  In that subjective mode, it’s easy for a client’s defenses and ego to become engaged and say, “If you were really psychic, what you are saying would make sense, but it doesn’t,” because the reading doesn’t match or parrot the client’s pre-existing viewpoint.  If the reader is made to be wrong, the client can still feel justified in holding onto their current false view of the situation in question.  This way, the reading will be greatly hampered, limited and probably unsuccessful.  If we want a reading to be enlightening, we can never expect to get more out of a session than what we’re open to receive and what we’re willing to give.

There is that great phrase, “You get what you give.”  This is so true for a reading.  What a client gives to a session is most certainly what they will get back in return.  A client must give an open heart, open mind, a willingness to participate, a positive attitude, all the while looking for the information that is for their greater and highest good, not just what they want to hear.   It is with that spirit of giving, that the client will most certainly find themselves receiving!

Always remember, the universe wants to help us to heal and move our lives forward.  It is us who close the door, by looking for ways to not be open to what comes through in a reading.  One’s level of ego, denial, and emotional confusion can be like a brick wall.  And what’s unfortunate about that brick wall, is that it only hurts the client – no one else.  We must let go of the old patterns – the same patterns that would continually say, “If you were really psychic,” to a reader who doesn’t mimic the current emotional level of understanding possessed.

There is a classic story that says, “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day.  Teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.  This concept also applies to readings.  By just answering “yes” or “no,” it is like giving someone a fish, which will last a single day, but if the reading answers the much more profound questions of “why,” that person will be able to eat for a lifetime. These metaphors refer to the “yes” or “no” reading only being of assistance for the moment, while answering “why” will help to transform a client’s life for the better — forever.

It is with the knowledge of “why” that gives us the ability to greatly improve our lives.  That success comes by us releasing the barriers within that block us from receiving all of the guidance, insight, wisdom and information that will help us to legitimately heal our lives.  This endless plethora of divine information has been there — yes, it has always been there all along — like a treasure chest that was right in front of us that we just weren’t willing to pay attention to, notice or acknowledge.  The right information has continually been there all the while for the taking and now, it can truly be utilized to manifest the blessings, dreams and highest good that we have always deserved.

Psychic Addiction – the reality and the fallout

September 7th, 2009 by jim1537

“When I am going to hear from him?  Is it in within the hour, today, tomorrow – tell me… WHEN!!!!!???  I had a hang up call earlier – that HAD to be him, right?  I’ve talked to 50 other readers, and they ALL say he is my soul mate!  When are we going to get married?  I knoooooow he loves me!”

You might perceive the scenario just stated as exaggerated, and hard to imagine, but it is indeed absolutely real.  Welcome to the world of psychic addiction, where frantic and desperate people repeat the same questions to multiple readers over and over, day and night.  Obsessively and compulsively, readers are called constantly by clients seeking reassurance, hand holding, and most of all, comfort.  Like a tape loop that soothingly plays over and over:  “This person loves you and is absolutely your soul mate.  This is God’s destiny, and of course you will be with them forever and ever.  You need to be patient!  Patience is one of your lessons, dear.”

Are these clients looking for legitimate and clear answers, or to simply have their psychic addiction fed?  Well, that depends. Sometimes a client is so centered in their lower self (the obsessive emotions, ego, arrogance, self destructive and denial mechanisms), that they refuse to hear or receive anything other than what they already believe to be true.

The ego and emotions want to be spoon-fed everything already believed as gospel truth right back to them, with no ifs, ands, or buts about it.  Often these clients do whatever they can to maneuver the reading to get the preconceived results they want.  They even go so far as to pretend they really want to hear the truth, only to find fault with ethical readers who disagree with them, as a scapegoat.

On the other hand, there are those who really want to grow, break the addiction, and heal their lives.  Their higher self (their spiritual self, strength and connection to God’s infinite wisdom), is looking for the truth, which brings them out of their own fog into clarity, honesty, accurate counsel and potential peace of mind.  These clients do indeed listen, and at least look at what comes through from spirit with an open mind; therefore, they grow out of negative patterns.  Sometimes that happens quickly, and other times it is more laborious, but they do get there!

And there are those who are struggling between their lower and higher self, literally at war with themselves.  These clients display mixed results, as I’ve witnessed over thirty years of offering readings.  I’ve often been pleasantly surprised at how certain individuals pull themselves up by the bootstraps, so to speak.

As I have had successful long-term relationships with many clients for decades, each and every reading has been a vehicle for continual growth, dealing with the issues that come up, and forging new ground.  It has been thrilling for me to see lots of my clients manifest their dreams.

On the flip side of the coin, though, I’ve seen people literally self destruct and destroy their lives through negative choices, and a defiant refusal to listen to anything other than what they are currently dead set on believing.  These people continually call countless readers, praising those who accommodate their ego and emotions, no matter how dark those energies may be, constantly craving the fix of having their erroneous belief systems validated at all costs.

When someone is psychically addicted though, and doesn’t want to be helped, they usually call me just once for a few minutes, don’t like what I have to say to them and never call me again.  As I don’t feed the addiction, which angers them, they immediately find another reader amongst the plethora of psychics out there who will do whatever it takes to “keep the meter running.”

I often say to these clients, “If you’ve heard the same answer from 50 other readers, why are you wanting to me to simply feed back to you what they’ve already said to you?  That won’t really help you.  If the other readers are so right, why are you calling me?”  Because it’s like a drug addiction – if you were recently just high, it wears off, and you need another fix.  It is the same thing with psychic addiction – a client craves to hear the same information: “He’s gonna call.  He’s not having sex with her.  She’s just a friend.  He’s a really great guy who’s just been hurt before.  Of course he loves you even though he isn’t calling you.  He’s the one.”   The addicted client needs to hear it again and again, as the reading becomes the fix and the validation of what they demand to hear.

Right there, something is obviously wrong.  While I understand that these are people in real pain, it is not healthy financially, emotionally or spiritually for a client to give that type of power away to any psychic and a reading.  An honest session should never be based on what other readers have said.  Stating that 50 other readers say it’s so is designed to manipulate, twisting the arm of a reader to feed the addiction.

Any reader that doesn’t validate the fantasy, denial and addiction of the client is labeled as DOOM AND GLOOM – AND NEGATIVE!  That label has been thrust on me many times for not buying into client’s addictive fantasies. With that stigmatization, any positive benefits that could help the client heal and take control of their lives are lost.

Some clients can’t grasp how some readers see things differently, as if 50 readers saying the same thing must make it true.  Hearing that many psychics say the same thing has the effect of adding credibility to the fantasy and denial.  I try to explain to them that readings are not a majority rules type of situation, and in any profession, different professionals disagree. One reader can get it right, while 50 other readers may get it wrong.

What’s terrible, though, and unfortunately real, are psychics who scam vulnerable clients who are in psychic addiction.  If the readings themselves don’t bring the desired results the client craves, the next step is often buying spells, paid candle burnings, and hexes to achieve the desired results.

“Honey, I can bring him back to you,” the reader reassures.  “Really, honestly, how much would it cost,” whimpers the client? The reader pauses and gently whispers, “Well, I don’t like to charge for this type of thing, as it is God’s work, but it will take a lot of time.  What can you afford?”  “I don’t know, I mean I’m not sure,” the client clumsily fumbles.  “Well, for this intense of work, I would need at least $20,000 dollars,” the reader asserts.  “Well, I guess I could take a second mortgage on my house,” the client says.  “Yes honey, it is worth it, as this love is meant to be and then he will be with you forever,” the reader reassures.

Of course, after the reader did not pull off being God, and the client is on the verge of bankruptcy, the client’s life often crumbles.  Broke, disappointed and disillusioned, the client may not know where to turn.  The client has been fed this diet of false hope for so long; months, years and even decades, that so much valuable time has been lost.  That time could have been devoted to growth and a truly positive journey.

You might wonder to yourself, “How could anyone be so easily played?”  My response may surprise you when I say, “Don’t be so quick to judge anyone’s choices.”  Any of us have been vulnerable at different times in our journey, and capable of choices and judgments that are not healthy.  Keep in mind that when any of us are intensely emotionally engaged, we can all lose our perspective and center.  It’s a question of how far one is willing to take it.  For example: There are jilted lovers who literally murder their exes based on jealousy and rage, while others simply go out and find someone else after one relationship doesn’t work out!

So when is someone experiencing psychic addiction?  Here are some tell tale signs:

  • Calling multiple readers with the same questions repetitively, frequently and sometimes daily.
  • Hearing the same answer from multiple readers, and still needing to call for more readings for even more reassurance of the exact same answers.
  • Inability to make a decision in life without calling a reader.
  • Still calling with the same questions, even though the time frame for those predictions hasn’t passed yet.
  • Spending more than they can afford, and not curbing the spending, even they’re experiencing enormous financial burdens.
  • Refusing to accept a different viewpoint of their situation, even when alternate viewpoints are intelligently and supportively stated.
  • Willing to do whatever it takes to get their wishes met through a reader, including spells and hexes.

Some of the things you can to do to break the addiction cycle:

  • If you’re going to call, set a budget and stick to it.
  • Only call when in a calm state if mind.
  • Before you call, ask yourself some questions:  Has the time period passed regarding past predictions?  Is there anything new you need to focus on for your growth?
  • Read over notes from past readings, and see if this takes away the urge to call.  If it only wants to make you call more, than it may be an addictive pattern, especially if nothing has changed.
  • Draw upon support from family and / or friends who have your best interests at heart.
  • Consider seeing or talking to an addiction specialist.

Ultimately, who is responsible for psychic addiction?  Is it those readers who play on the vulnerabilities of innocent people, or is the client who uses the reader as their fix?  In reality, it is both.  Just like the slave needs the slave driver, both sides feed off of each other, and keep the cycle going.

Like any God given gift, psychic ability can be used for positive or negative purposes.  For example:  having money is a blessing from God, but it can be used as a tool to facilitate arrogance, selfishness and greed.  The money in and of itself is not negative, but the application mentioned here is.

Looking for spiritual guidance, accurate predictions and healthy insight is a completely different issue than psychic addiction.  Every reading you get should be able to help facilitate growth, channel messages from those in spirit, and encourage prosperity and well-being in every area of your journey.  These people make their OWN decisions – I just advise and offer counsel, which is what any reader should do!  With the perception out there of psychics being scam artists, that last thing needed is for readers to reinforce those stereotypes.

As a client, always maintain control of your journey and your destiny.  It is important to consider whatever is coming through, but never become addicted to hearing what your emotional desires crave to hear.  If you do ever become psychically addicted, draw upon whatever support is there for you to break the addiction – whether from a therapist, an ethical psychic or spiritual teacher, friends, or family!  Always remember, you’re meant to be in the driver’s seat of your journey – not anyone else!

Timing in a Reading

August 17th, 2009 by jim1537

Time tends to be the one thing that everyone wants in a reading:  “When is he going to call?”  “When am I getting married?”  “When will I have more money?”  When talking about “timing” in a session, there are many factors as to why some time-based predictions are spot on, while others are not accurate at all.  Yet, it is not as simple as to say that the gifts a reader possesses are strictly defined by how they can or can’t predict time.  As I will show below, time is not at all as clear-cut in a consultation as people would like to think.  In reality, it has a lot to do with the spiritual journey a client is on, their choices and what path they may decide to travel on.

In psychic readings, there are two types of timing for predictions:  1) – The first is “Lesson Driven.” This means that the karmic / dharmic spiritual lesson or lessons the client needs to learn must be completed for the prediction to happen (time-wise).  With lesson-based predictions, the time will not be able to be perceived in a rock solid “look at your watch” fashion.  Since the client may choose to either learn or not learn their lessons, it is not a just a simple “this week” or “it will happen next year” answer.  In addition, since these are karmic / dharmic lessons that tie into one’s overall soul growth, they are not easily or quickly learned.

Here I will illustrate the point:  I remember a female client who had stated the following to me in a reading:  “Jim, I’ve had at least 20 readings over the last few years, and everyone says I’m going to meet somebody new, but I never do.”   In this instance, I clairvoyantly knew that the client’s love life was not just a matter of a date when a certain person would be coming into her life (as it sometimes is), but that it is based on her spiritual growth (lessons).  Her situation needed to be looked at from a different point of view regarding time.  I picked up that she was closed to commitment, needed to open her heart to receive someone new, which entailed forgiving her ex husband.  These things needed to be done to bring someone new into her life.

Then I indicated that if she did these things, a new person would come enter the picture in about 2 years, however as I pointed out, the work would have to be done (the lessons learned) to open the door to receive this new blessing.  In this instance, the other readers weren’t wrong; they just may have not perceived the complexity of her situation and that it required more in depth insight that just a date of occurrence.

So always remember that if lessons, especially deep karmic ones are involved, “time” will always be based on what you learn and how you proceed with learning your lessons and not just “written in stone” dates.

2) – The second type of timing for predictions is “Event Driven.”  An event driven time and date prediction is based on the current path the client is on at the point when they receive a reading.  These event driven predictions are less difficult to do, as the pathway the client is traveling on is already a journey in progress.  It would be like looking at someone on a road trip and viewing where things are already heading.  These events are usually based upon choices the client has already made in the past, not on choices the person is making in the present.  As we look at the future, though, choices that will be made by the client can and will also affect the ultimate outcomes predicted.

However, even with “Event Driven” predictions, the client’s choice always comes into play.  It is never as if a psychic can make a prediction and that it would be unable to be changed by the client.  Any choice the client makes between the moment a reading was offered and the actual date of a prediction, alters the prediction and the outcome – often dramatically.  Especially if the time frame predicted is for the long term, let’s say, several months or years, there are more chances for a client to make various choices that could completely change the end prediction.

Here’s a for instance:  I remember telling a man that if he did not contact his ex, the ex would reach out to him in 6 months and be interested in reuniting with him.  That prediction, though, was based on him not doing anything but waiting it out for that 6 month time period:  No text messages, no emails, no phone calls or correspondence of any kind.

This man refused to wait and began trying to have contact with his ex almost immediately after our reading, which his ex was not happy about as she was still in another relationship, although, one that was coming to an end.  Because of him refusing to leave well enough alone, his ex became frustrated with his pushiness and did not attempt to reunite with him 6 months later.

The client then became angry and stated to me, “You said that she was going to try and reunite with me in 6 months, but your prediction never happened.”  As in many instances, the client forgets that the prediction, like a contract, has different clauses to it.  This prediction was not a simple one-line sentence, which said: She will contact you in 6 months – period.  There was also the factor of him absolutely having to refuse to try and connect with her during that 6-month period and needing to just wait it out.

Through his choices, the final prediction did not come true.  It is important to realize that since life is not “written in stone,” meaning that any of us could make any number of choices on any given day, that time based psychic predictions are also not a guaranteed fact.  Especially when the pathway the client is on has been altered by the client’s choices.

Think of it this way:  God has given you a life with infinite plans and possibilities.  If you put a gun to your head and commit suicide, which is your choice, not God’s, you end the game entirely.  In less perceivably dramatic ways, we do the same thing everyday of our lives through our choices.

As we see, our choices affect the event driven predictions we receive in a reading, yet that may not stop clients from searching for ever more correct time based insights.  Some may think to look to the spirit word for even more clear-cut dates.  After all, our spirit guides are presumably more enlightened than we are, so shouldn’t they be able to predict time better than human psychics can?

In actuality, human psychics are usually better than spirits in this regard.  Why?  Because humans live within the illusion of time, therefore, are able to perceive it more clearly.  In spirit where there is no time as we know it, spirit entities are often out of touch with the clock human beings experience, as it is not the reality they live in.  However, some spirits are better than others, as they may still be able to retain a connection with the parameters of the physical plane’s illusion of time.

If we break down time into different aspects or styles of readers, we’ll see how various psychics deal with time in a consultation.

Certain psychics often pick up numbers regarding time.  A reader may say to a client, “I pick up that you will meet someone new in a “3.”  That “3″ could be 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, or perhaps even 3 years.  Often a reader can fine tune or narrow down the time frame that initially presented itself as a number, and sometimes they cannot, as all they may receive is the actual number.

Some readers predict time in literal dates.  This type of psychic would say, “Your ex lover will be calling you this Tuesday.”  Keep in mind though, that the further out the date is, say, weeks, months, even years from the point of the actual session, the literal aspect of the prediction may become somewhat less literal.  This style of reader might say, “I see you meeting someone new in about 9 months.

Literal time frames are often provided by readers, which are like bookends, which indicate the first possibility of an occurrence, concluding with the latest likelihood of something happening.   A reader might state, “I see you getting a new job offer between summer and late fall of this year.”  Usually, these predictions fall somewhere in-between the two “bookends” so to speak.

A psychic I know once told me the story of a prediction she once made.  She told a client that she would hear from her boyfriend by the end of October.  The client called her on October 26th expressing frustration and stated, “I haven’t heard from him yet!”  The psychic told her, “It’s not the end of October yet.  Give it till the end of the month.”  A few days later, her client called her on the October 30th and said, “I heard from him.”  So here, by the end of the month was a literal time frame prediction.

“Time” may present itself to a reader in ways that are only partially literal.  Sometimes a month may come through regarding a prediction, let’s say, February — but it wasn’t that February when the prediction actually came true, it turned out to be February a year later.  This can also happen with a day of the week.  A psychic may say, “I see you hearing about your new job offer by Friday.”  However, it wasn’t that Friday the client heard about their job offer, it was on Friday three weeks later.

A reader recently shared this story with me:  She told a client who desperately needed a job this exact prediction regarding her career: “The job will open up in November.”  The psychic then went on to describe specific details regarding this job.  The client ended up getting this job, as exactly described.  However, this job came to her the following March.  When she accepted the position, her employer told her that this job had been opened up in the prior November and that the company had been trying to fill the position for all of that time.  Here we see that literal time based predictions can be seen in many different ways.

Often, readers see time in ways that are metaphorical or allegorical.  A psychic may say, “I see you getting engaged when the leaves are falling (which would indicate the fall season).  Another advisor may see a vision of the snow when offering a reading, stating, “When the snow is falling, I see you moving to another location across the country.”

Some things in a consultation may not be able to be seen through the lens of time.  Why?  Because, from a spiritual perspective, certain things are simply not supposed to be revealed to us.  A perfect example of not being able to see the time and date is when a reader is trying to predict death.  Knowing when someone close to us will die, or even being clear on when we are going to leave this world could be disastrous for us to know.  How could we live in a normal day to day fashion if we knew the time and date of our own passing?  If we know when someone around was going to transition, it could upset the flow of how we interact with them and cause irreparable emotional damage to all concerned.  Therefore, infinite intelligence may not let readers see when people are going to pass.

However, in rare instances, it can be a positive thing to know the time when someone may exit this existence.  I remember a client of mine who had a relative who had been chronically ill in a nursing home for many years.  My client needed to know when this person would leave this world for two reasons:  They were worried that they wouldn’t have enough money to keep paying the nursing home bill as well as they wanted to know when this egregious suffering of their loved one would finally come to an end?  I remember predicting the point of transition correctly, and in that instance, it was a spiritual blessing to be able to see such a thing.

In this instance, it was beneficial to be able to see the above-mentioned person’s transition point.  However, it is generally not a good idea to try to predict death in a reading.

Some readers perceive that they are not able to predict time.  By believing that they can’t offer time-based predictions, they limit their ability to do so.  Someone I know who taught psychic development classes to many students, told me that she always instructed her students from the beginning that would be able to predict time.  She presented tuning into dates as a normal part of the psychic process and therefore, her students never had a problem predicting time at all.

If a reader believes that they indeed can predict time, they should be able to do so.  It’s just the issue of not being intimidated by seeing a possible date, trusting in one’s inner ability to look at time in a session and flow with that process.  One of the great things about predicting the clock is that the more one does it, the easier and more fluid it becomes.

Regarding time, some clients are tremendously impatient regarding the points of when something predicted will happen.  “You mean I have to wait another year to meet someone?  No way.  It has to be sooner.  C’mon, tell me that it could happen sooner.  I can’t wait a whole year to meet someone,” a client exclaims!  This process of badgering the reader will never make things happen more quickly.  Remember the psychic is NOT in control over what happens in a client’s life; the reader is simply a conduit or vehicle and a messenger, that’s all.  So in this instance, don’t shoot the messenger.  Whatever time frame is offered in a reading, take note of it and see how things unfold, as that’s all that anyone can do.

A reading is supposed to provide guidance and insight to the journey an individual is on in this lifetime.  Consultations are there to offer insights, show possibilities, indicate where choice is involved and provide higher guidance to the deep complexities any of us can face.

A session is never simply designed to fill in the calendar, in the same way you list dinner dates, birthdays and doctors appointments.  That would be as ridiculous as saying to a reader, “If you were really psychic, you would know what I ate for breakfast yesterday!”

“Time” can provide an overview of the journey.  Often time frames are revealed through a reading in the following way:  An issue starts with a question, which progresses to a murky, non-conclusive and sometimes rocky period, and ultimately leads to a conclusion.  Never forget though, that many factors affect the conclusion in time based ways:  The karmic / spiritual lessons the client must learn to see the ultimate predictions manifest, and the choices that the client makes along the way which can alter and / or nullify the dates originally offered in a reading.

With knowing that time is not a permanent fixture in the heavens or in our lives, we look at time as it should be perceived — as a guiding light, which is merely an overview in the journey — but one that can shine brighter, dim darker or simply be turned off, leaving us in darkness; by us – as we are the ones who truly have our finger on the light and the dimmer switch.  Here we see that we have always been and will always be far more in control of the proverbial  “when” we all wish to know – that “when” which has much more to do with “what” — as in what we think, choose, say, do, and ultimately, learn.

All Psychics Are Not Created Equal

February 27th, 2009 by jim1537

There are professions were strict regulations apply – as in the medical field which entails an abundance of serious education. Besides completing their education, a doctor has to be licensed and always must stay current with that license.  One might presume that all educated and licensed doctors would share exactly the same opinions regarding the same medical case – after all, they were all  educated with clearly defined regulated standards.  However, that is not necessarily true.  If one really listens to various doctors speak, their opinions can vary slightly to even being completely diametrically opposed to one another.

For those of us who have had multiple doctors’ opinions regarding a medical situation, we may receive very conflicting viewpoints – and sometimes finding the correct and truthful perspective can literally save our lives.

With psychic readers, there is no mandatory licensing required or any clear standard of education.  Unlike the medical field, anyone can claim to be a reader.  From being highly trained with vast experience to waking up one day and proclaiming oneself to be a gifted visionary, all psychics are not created equal.  For those of us who have been mislead, even victimized through readings  received, it can be a quite painful an extremely expensive lesson. However, a reading, if properly executed, can be a life transforming experience for one’s highest good.  Below, I will break readings down into three basic categories: “Readings to be careful of” “Possibly helpful” and “Readings that can enlighten us.”  In this writing, I will be dealing with the psychic process that uses no external tools, instead of practices that do use physical tools, such as the tarot and rune stones.

Readings to be careful of In this section, there are many dangers and pitfalls I hope to point out so they can be avoided.  The question must be asked, “If a reader is being disingenuous and manipulative, even if a portion of the predictions are correct as they have some degree of psychic ability, should they be listened to at all?”

The Gypsy Scam Artist
The gypsy scam artist is one who plays on the vulnerabilities of a confused client, someone who is going through a tough time. Unfortunately, this is the image many people have of psychics – as someone who preys on and exploits the weak.  This type of reader has no concern for one’s highest or greater good, any compassion or ethics whatsoever.  It is all about power, money and control.

Typically, this type of reader promises the moon – from lofty claims of being able to reunite anyone to changing the outcome of a situation to exactly the way, you, the client wants it to conclude.  By making false and erroneous promises, the price tags can be very high.  Think of it – if someone could really reunite lovers, guaranteed, they would be amongst the richest people on earth.  In a state of confusion, the client gets drawn into this type of scam and comes out on the short end of it, often needing to file bankruptcy.  By appearing as all knowing, the gypsy scam artist assumes the position of godlike power – and through that assumption of power, tries to manipulate and control the client.

You might ask yourself, “Does this type of reader have any legitimate psychic ability?”  Sometimes they do and sometimes they don’t.  They may guess and work off of what the client is saying about their situation to attempt to appear insightful.  If there is any ability there, it involves offering mundane event based predictions.  Meaning, they might be able to tell you when someone is going to call, even offer descriptions of the people in question as well as hit some actual predictions accurately.

Remember, there is a complete difference between having psychic ability and being spiritually evolved and ethical.  The two don’t necessarily go hand in hand at all.  Keep in mind, though, that this sort of reader will never offer counsel or direction that is for the client’s greater good.  This type of reader will always encourage unhealthy dependency on them.  From inappropriate candle burning to dark spells, the gypsy scam artist will never help the client to a better life.

The Reader Who Plays Up To The Client
There are readers who are more concerned with customer satisfaction than telling the truth.  As in gypsy scam artists, sometimes they have psychic ability and sometimes they don’t.  When they do have psychic ability, though, they will not cross the line and tell someone what they don’t want to hear.  Meaning, even when some predictions are accurate, if the actual final outcome is not what the client wants to hear, the reader will not predict it correctly.  For example, if in the end, the love interest won’t ultimately commit to the client, this type of reader will not burst their bubble.  Why?  Because the bottom line is to accommodate the client and whatever their current level of understanding and wish list is.

Sometimes these readers don’t do this on purpose – they just won’t allow themselves to see the truth because they don’t want to be disapproved of or “hurt” the client’s feelings, which would leave the client angry, disappointed and dissatisfied.  In short, the psychic’s desire to be liked and viewed as positive trumps all else.  This sort of reader will only go as far as the client’s ego, emotions and denial will allow.

However, there are those who mislead clients on purpose.  Why?  To let the meter run, keep the gravy train rolling and put money in their pockets.  In this instance, the psychic would actually lie to simply satisfy the customer.  When deep and difficult emotions are involved, telling a client what they don’t want to hear can lead to a serious emotional backlash from the client, which could mean less business and a negative reputation for the psychic.  In this instance, the reader doesn’t care about what happens to the client at all and sees their work similar to the stereotype of a bad used
car salesman – all you have to do is make the sale.  Nowadays, it is quite common for readers who engage in this practice to strongly assert that they ONLY TELL THE TRUTH!!!!  BEWARE!!!! TRUTH ONLY!!!!  That makes hearing what one wants to hear seem that much more believable, because of the initial assertions of truth telling, when in reality, it is a smokescreen.

Often, clients are so entrenched in their own emotional denial that they will bully these types of readers.  If a reader wants to play up to the client, they won’t challenge the assertions of the client at all.  “He’s absolutely going to marry me, right?  I felt it from the moment I met him,” a client states.  “Yes, dear, he will.  It may take some time, but he’s a great guy worth waiting for,” the reader reassures.  In this instance, (if the love interest won’t commit in the end) the fairy tale is being sold as truth.  The client gets what they want – the reader is perceived as positive, (of course until things don’t ultimately work in the end.)  And if a different reader somewhere along the way simply feels that the relationship won’t ultimately work out, they are labeled as negative, dark, even evil.

Possibly helpful
Although a telepathic reading may mostly tell you how you feel and validate what you’re going through, it may or may not be of much value in terms of growth and enlightenment unless information above and beyond “telepathy” is introduced.

Telepathy
Often, certain psychics legitimately pick up what the client is sending out and feeling.  This form of psychic ability would be called telepathy.  The reader is not primarily picking up from a higher source, but absorbing the client’s internal reality – and then, feeding it back to the client as truth.  Often, what any of us feel is simply our emotions and our feelings, not necessarily truthful.

In this type of reading, it can seem highly accurate at the time, because it is exactly what the client already is experiencing. These consultations often do little to bring about actual guidance, but are more like two people reinforcing the same reality to each other back and forth.

Often empathic, these readers can feel what the client is going through.  However, how valuable is that?  I remember someone once told me that they would never want to have a reading with someone who is empathic.  They already knew what they felt – they wanted answers and truthful wareness.  Especially because what any of us may be feeling is emotionally difficult, we need a clear, unattached perspective to rise above merely our emotions, which telepathy doesn’t provide.  Sometimes, though, other insights that are psychically valid may blend into this type of reading, which can offer something above and beyond simply the “feeling” portion of a session, which can be helpful.  In addition, an empath who can tell you what the other person in question is thinking /feeling can be quite beneficial in a consultation.

Readings that can enlighten us In this section, I will highlight readings and techniques that can indeed be positive.  As always, along with a reader’s potential gifts, their ethics and principles also come into question. Someone may be talented, yet unethical.  That is always dicey, because where does ability leave off and one’s lack of ethics come into play?  Although a reader must be gifted to be of assistance to you, they should also be ethical, honest and truly spiritually evolved.  If both gifts and ethics are present, the reading will most certainly be of assistance to the client.

Mediumship
Being a medium is its own special gift, and just because someone is a medium, does not necessarily mean that they will make predictions or read the future in the conventional psychic sense.  A medium can receive messages from those who have passed on, presumably, the loved ones of the client as well as from spirit guides.

What a medium offers depends on what spirit says to them and how clearly and accurately they can receive these messages.  Often, a message comes through quickly and does not last for a long period of time.  Medium John Edwards described receiving a spirit message as holding one’s breath underwater.

Some mediums hear messages – others see images, even symbols. Sometime a message comes through in fragments and needs to be put together while other times, it is quite clear.  Often, it is a combination of all of the above.

Some of you might think of it like a phone call.  The medium answers the phone and the sprit simply speaks.  However, it is more complex.  There is a distortion process, as this communication is occurring between two inter connected yet very different dimensions.  It is sort of like having a phone conversation where you never know how good the connection will be.  The call may be clear, have static, going in and out, muffled, even distorted.  The most important thing when receiving a message from a medium is to NOT interrupt.  If that communication / connection is broken, it may be quite hard to get it back as this process is delicate.

There are three factors in a medium message: 1) The ability of the medium. 2) The ability of the spirit to come through.  It is not a given that our loved ones can simply communicate because they have crossed over.  They would have to learn that skill or already have acquired it from a previous time period. 3) How open the client is.  Sometimes, if a client is closed or open, it works like a door.  The more open the client is, the more information that can indeed come through.  However, if the client is closed, as they are the conduit from which this message comes through, the information can be more limited.

Clairvoyance
Clairvoyance, simply defined, means clear vision.  If a reader is legitimately clairvoyant, they will certainly “see” and pick things up.  Depending on their ability level, they will indeed make truthful predictions, although no one can be 100% accurate.  The more spiritually evolved a clairvoyant is, the more multi level counsel may be offered.  In addition to predictions; insights, guidance, past life perspectives, karmic and life lesson understandings will also come through in this type of consultation.

A good clairvoyant will not get tripped up by the emotions of the client and will see things from an unattached perspective.  This can be quite helpful in a reading.  I like the analogy of someone drowning (as in their emotions).  Would that person want someone underwater with him or her, or someone who is outside of the water? (Above the emotions)  From an unattached place, accurate information comes through.  Certainly, if a clairvoyant is coming from a loving and compassionate personality, it makes whatever comes through easier for the client to process.

A reader must be more spiritually evolved than the client to be able to read for them.  In this instance, the reader can perceive the path the client is on, which sets up the life lessons that will occur.  With this understanding and overview, a clairvoyant can assist the client through their journey in a spiritually positive way.  It would be like being a music teacher who has mastered Bach and Mozart.  They would certainly be able to help someone who was in the process of learning to play the piano, as they already possess the knowledge and understanding needed.

Clairaudience
Clairaudience in effect means “clear hearing” and is a term that is used for psychic hearing abilities.  A clairaudient will receive psychic information in the form of words, ideas, or messages that are perceived and interpreted through the normal hearing centers within the brain. Sometimes a clairaudient person will receive this information by simply hearing voices internally (in their own mind), or receive ideas and hear messages. Other clairaudients may receive information by actually hearing a person speak, as if they were in the room next to them and listening to them communicating. Many psychics receive messages in this manner from spirit guides, or other entities who have crossed over. Sometimes the message is preceded by a floral fragrance or an odor that is somehow familiar to the reader or client. Often, this signifies and indicates someone who is coming through, as this entity may have been associated with a fragrance.  For example, if Mom wore a certain perfume, smelling that perfume would make a connection with the client. If the person receiving the message associated a spirit entity with the fragrance of certain flowers, that odor will let the reader know who is getting ready to communicate with them. Simply stated, it is a validation of who is coming through.

Clairsentient
As highlighted above, clairvoyant is a reader who has “clear vision” – one who can see beyond just what the physical eye offers.  Clairaudience is the power to hear things outside the range of normal perception whether with inner hearing (within our own mind) or actual physical hearing.  Clairsentient is the power to use all our senses beyond normal understanding. The highest gift is considered to be ‘Clear-gnosis’ or clear knowing. It is said that
this knowing is a psychic gift that comes from a very high spiritual connection within the person who is Clairsentient. If people are amazed at what one simply knows, they probably have Clear-knowing.  This type of psychic gift just allows information to be present and perceived within.  With this gift, things just are, and are known in the same way most of us know our name or address.

Channeling
In a sense, reading is always a form of channeling.  Presumably, if someone is tapping into higher consciousness, they are channeling: whether their spirit guides, universal knowledge or the Godhead directly. When someone is referred to as a “channeler,” they are more or less trying to surrender themselves, their sense of personal identity to becoming a vehicle or vessel of a higher consciousness, usually a spiritual teacher of theirs, or possibly teachers that are connected to you.  It would be as if the channeler is listening to someone other than themselves communicate to them and passing that information on.

Often, these readers channel universal masters who have messages that they, the channeler can receive and bring into this world. When channeling universal masters, the messages are more spiritually based, and less built around mundane predictions, such as “Will I hear from Bill tomorrow or not?”

If the channeler is doing a personal reading for you, it would tie more into your journey, your lessons, life experiences, predictions and possibilities.  To be called a channeler, the reading and information is not coming from the reader, but from an entity outside of themselves.

Direct Voice
Direct voice is probably the most rare form of the psychic process and is a more advanced and extremely difficult form of channeling. With direct voice, the reader actually releases themselves into the spiritual realms and allows their physical body to be literally taken over and utilized by an actual sprit entity or entities for the duration of the reading. Sometimes more than one spiritual teacher will come through in this type of reading.  When the spirit
takes over the body, they use their vocal cords and body parts / functions to speak and communicate.  This process can be very psychically hard on the direct voice channeler, as it takes a toll on them physically if they are not careful.  (Think of how you might feel having different entities enter your body and use it on a regular basis).  As there are very few people who can actually do legitimate direct voice channeling, it is a rare experience to have one of these types of readings.

The reader’s face may somewhat change its appearance and a different voice comes through, (not just an accent)  These readings often deal with many of your past lives, the karma that you are here to resolve, your spiritual lessons as well as some practical predictions.

With all of the different readers and variations out there, you must ask yourself the following question, “What am I looking for in a reading?”  This question may seem obvious to all of us.  Wouldn’t everyone claim they want an accurate and helpful consultation? However, let’s step back for a moment and take a deeper look.

If you desperately want someone to tell you what you want to hear and that everything is going to be OK, then you fall prey to the gypsy scam artist or the reader who plays up to the client.  These readings offer little or nothing of any real value at all, except a dwindling bank account.  By being emotionally myopic with tunnel vision, you set yourself up to be manipulated by unethical readers, who are always there for the taking.

If you don’t listen and tend to interrupt, then you may break the flow coming through in a medium message or a channeling.  If you’re closed and defensive, you’ll (whether intentionally or not) limit what comes through in any type of psychic reading.

However, if you approach a consultation with a truly open mind, all the while asking for the information that is for your greater good to come through, you open the door to utilizing a reading in the way infinite spirit intended it – to be of enlightenment, help, clarity and ultimately, your growth.  It is my sincerest hope that this writing makes clear that perspective and assists you in making
the right choice for you.
