Thomas Edison is known to have been a firm believer in the importance of failure. While inventing the battery, after 50,000 failed tests - he retorted to a discouraged comment from his assistant - "You must be pretty downhearted with the lack of progress" with a "Downhearted? We've made a lot of progress. At least we know 50,000 things that won't work!"
Thomas Edison eventually did succeed with his invention - the nickel-iron alkaline battery, that is still used today.

The foundation of his success was built on failure!!!
