Judging myself…

November 7th, 2007 by jim1537

It took me a long time not to judge myself through someone else’s eyes.

Sally Field

This is a phenomenal quote. So many of us, myself include have been like a ping pong ball, batted back and forth; so and so approves of me — I’M OK!!!   Another person disapproves of me — I’M NOT OK!!!  To not judge yourself through the eyes of others with all of their prejudices, misconceptions, distortions and agendas is a very healing thing to do!  Thank you Sally!

I think that “we are our own worst critics” - We judge ourselves, beat ourselves up & tend to be incredibly harsh on ourselves (sometimes this cruel self judgement is set off by an external stimulus, a person or a situation etc…).
I think it takes conscious commitment & effort to practise kindness. Practise being KIND to yourself first!!! (quiet the voice of scathing self-judgement)- There is always room for self improvement and this work can be handled with kindness…This is perhaps the start of healing & being able to offer true kindness to others…

Noone even said “a penny for your thoughts Dorothy”…LOL..but here they are :-D
