Others – Ourselves
October 8th, 2007 by jim1537
Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.
Carl Gustav Jung
There is a metaphysical saying that goes, “If you see it in me, it’s yours.” The things we are bothered by in others are always the things we cannot accept in ourselves.

This is tough one to own – All those boorish pig headed people that annoy me somehow are a reflection of some aspect of me….:-D – At best, I can only see minor streaks of such aspects in me (perhaps cos I’m of such high opinion of me..LOL).
This type of thinking, however, has made me aware of other people’s insecurities playing out in unpleasant behaviours…I like to think & hope that when I’m riding my own wave of success, I will remember not to disrespect or trample others as I have experienced…

I think that this one is a hard one for all of us to own…. I find that it can be very helpful to examine WHY something bothers me in someone else. There are a lot of things that I thought I had overcome that I realize are still sensitive issues when I see them in others!
