<description>I would like to share this experience regarding the 6 powerful pointers "countering hopelessness" highlighted above:

In one of the darkest times in my life of deep depression &#38; utter hopelessness (I had been romantically frustrated, rejected by family, had no meaningful friends, was financially strapped, felt ugly for years &#38; was being harassed at work) - I watched a profound (for me)documentary on TV:
The documentary explored the sexual life, experiences &#38; desires of disabled people – In watching the interviews of many left in nursing homes, with no limbs, some grotesquely disfigured, contorted &#38; shrivelled discussing physical attraction &#38; sexual desires like any other member of the human race, jolted me out of my bubble world. To top, there were those who happily discussed (stuttered amongst drool &#38; convulsion) in all detail the thrill of their sex life &#38; their lover’s touch.
In a very intense 20 minutes I could see my blessings – oh so clearly!! I cried on my knees with the most intense sincere feeling of gratitude for the gifts I have and for where I was in my life, troubles and all!!!

The following quote by Marilyn vos Savant resonated with me…“Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.” …I think it is paramount to realise that the parallel “Feeling hopeless is often a temporary condition....” is indeed true to life.
